Warning, this post may be longer than most due to all the photographs but everone loves to see what people got up to on their travels eh?
So me and my university friend decided to book up another adventure ( we went to Dublin last year) and booked up a week before for a short trip to Berlin for 5 days. I have always wanted to visit Germany and see what it's like as I really considered going their for my Erasmus trip ( still undecided!) The hotel we stayed in was called Azimut, it wasnt very near the city but only a short journey from the airport, you cant get the best of both worlds can you! So thanks to Nicole at VisitBerlin she had us both covered for travel and activities with the Welcome Card which allowed free travel and discounts to most touristy things, we only had time to visit a few things but i loved just being somewhere different seeing different sights.
So in the first few photographs we were on route to do a little sight seeing and finally made our way into the city ( it was a confusing and stressful journey as not many peopel speak English but thanks to Danielle for being able to read maps we made it there in one piece) - We visited the TV TOWER, the queues werent that fun but it was worth it when we got to the top, in took 35 seconds to get up there by lift which was crazy and the sights were amazing but we are typical girls and the first thing we spotted was the shops we were going to try locate when we got to the bottom. I would love to be there for New Year i can imagine the atmosphere would be amazing!!
The next day i knew i had to take advantage of the sun and wanted some blog photographs taken and before i visited Berlin i knew where i wanted them to be at the Brandenburg Gate, there is just something so amazing about this gate! -
A few other things we got up to were the usual shopping, in the amazing Alexa!! 3 floors of shops was a bit overwhelming we had to stop for a lot of breaks. We also visited Madame Tussauds, such tourists i know! It got to the day before we were leaving and we were exhausted from walking so much so we decided to experience the open top tour bus to see things we hadnt already and that were a bit out of distance, it was amazing even though it was freezing and we got blown to bits but i definitely recommend that if you are wanting to see all the main points of the city you are in but arent up to travelling yourself to get to them, they also let you get off at any main points and visit the attraction and hop on another bus when youre done which is great, we got off at Check point Charlie and then got back on to finish the tour.
Overall it was a great city to visit, im not sure if i would go back to the bit we were at but i would love to see the rest of Germany, id love to hear about any of your trips to Berlin!!
