TEN TIPS FOR WEARING WHITE.
// Feature for Ideal Magazine.
This is my guest post for ideal magazine, i thought it would be a great post to share on I wear my wages also - as i always get asked how i wear white / what goes best / or how im able to keep everything white because of my make up and fake tan etc - Too many of yous are shying away from sporting an all white outfit and resorting to all black, let this summer be the time to bring out the all white outfits! so here is everything i know, compressed into ten top tips for you all.
1. DONT BE INTIMIDATED.
For some, white is an intimidating colour, even for me. The mere thought of wearing it head-to-toe is reason enough to slip into all black everything but im all about a splash of colour and avoiding black... somedays. It is coming up to spring, its the season to step away from dark and dull colours and get some light in your life. I am definitely going to be loving some white/peach/link pink/light blue this spring, its all about accessories when wearing white - i have put together this moodboard to show you a perfect creation for an up and coming spring wardrobe.
2. CONFIDENCE IS KEY.
Confidence is definitely key when it comes to wearing white, or all white. Put all those silly rules to bed on all white is tacky or even white heels are tacky... how you style them and having the confidence to is is everything less than tacky. Dont be afraid to experiment with white and take inspiration from all us bloggers, and moodboards styling how to wear white on any occasion wether it be if your coat is the statement piece or whever ever you are going, from casual to fancy - theres always a look out there you just need to source it down if you cant make it up for yourself.
Its no hidden secret, white is so versatile. When choosing a colour to style it with you are left with an endless list of possibilities because.. white goes with everything. When im choosing i always try to narrow it down, if theres a pink blouse i love i will see what accessories i have or jacket etc its all about keeping it down to as little variety of colours as possible when wearing white / try 3 maximum to avoid too much going on and looking like a hot mess. I love to wear white and include a pattern and then work from there : as shown below are some examples of how i style white, i try to keep it simple as white is a powerful eye catching piece, it doesnt need too much done with it which is what i love - literally a white t-shirt and a tan is life. // If in doubt... add more white.
4. ALL ABOUT THAT BONDI BRONZE.
Well infact my top tip for those who are lovers of fake tan like me, would be just dont wear tan.. save yourself the heartache when you get bronzer or fake tan all over them and cant get it out. So if you have a natural tan then my gawd im jealous because you will look smokinnnn wearing white. I try to wear my 1 hour chloe sims tan when i know im going out or even wearing white, as i put it on the night before or a full day before and then wash it off that day and its still there but not fresh the way instant bronzer would be and theres less risk its going to end up everywhere. So its all about the tan, if you are really pale i would say wearing white will just wash you out even more.
5. THE GOLDEN RULE.
There was quite a craze/trend/mainstream/everyone must wear white jeans thing happening just at the end of summer - obviously i had to join in, its my job to be surrounded by the trends, but the goldeeeeeeeeeen rule is, wear tan pants/bra - its really not pleasant to be sporting white jeans and black pants, its just not a good look ladies, dont do it.
6. GO ALL OUT.
If in doubt, just wear white from head to toe as no colour is more fresh so if you do struggle on how to style things white on white is such a high impact look.
7. CHOOSE WISELY.
Its all about the right shoe - a problem im sure if you have wore white before or tried to you came across the shoe issue // you think monochrome oh black shoe with white jeans, it really rarely ever goes, well most shoes really dont go with white its such a hard look to pull of hence why i keep saying just go all out all and wear literally all white because then theres no weird colour combinations going on - but pick your shoe wisely - white usually requires delicate accessories and shoes, go for more neutral and natural colours for spring coming up and in summer go out with a vibrant colour but make sure you match either a jacket or accessories with the exact same colour, dont cause a headache with too many colour combo's.
I have attached a few of my favourite inspo's from around the world and their flawless, crisp all white looks // im so inspired to recreate a look like this for spring/summer 2015 - but its all about the accessories - as you can see they have all gone for a no nonsense kind of look, by that i mean no tackyness they have chucked all the rules out the window and brought back the words "classy" and "sophisitcated" associated with all white outfits. Light accessories / light make up / light jewellery is key - i would complete any of the looks with an on point flawless face and red lip because it just finishes off the look but each to their own i guess - the less going on, and the more basic the outfit has turned each outfit into statement pieces in themselves, and head turners at that. - Keep simplicity in mind when wearing white.
9. GO FOR GOLD.
A real match is gold and white together - try avoid silver it kind of makes the whole outfit look cheap - a white pair of jeans with a white blouse and a gold statement belt will do the trick.
10. DOUBLE DENIM.
I am obsessing over white jeans and a blue denim shirt together - such a versatile look as it looks amazing with knee high boots / points heels / converse literally a day to night look that you can pull off all year round.
I would love to hear all your tips and how you wear white throughout the year! tweet me them at @iwearmywages
